Philippine Airlines (PAL) is turning 76 this year and it is celebrating this milestone by continuing on its journey towards becoming a 5-star full service carrier by 2020.
“Philippine Airlines has been continuing the tradition of service innovation to provide passengers a heartwarming travel experience that represents the best of the Philippines and the best of the Filipinos,” said PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista.
“With our line-up of initiatives, we are committed to make people all over the world experience the unique brand of service that can only come from The Heart of the Filipino.”
The company kicked off its anniversary celebration through a three-day expo that was held at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) High Street ampitheather. PAL entered into a partnership with Globe Telecom for the event, wherein new products and service innovations for PAL passengers were highlighted, including the following:
1. Additional units of B777-300ER
The national carrier has announced the arrival of two more brand new B77s in December 2017. This follows a new lease agreement between the company and Intrepid Aviation. During the three-day expo, the chance to experience what it feels like riding the aircraft was given to the public.
2. Enhanced Inflight Entertainment System
PAL has unveiled its upgraded myPAL eSuite in-seat monitors for its newly reconfigured A330s. Some attendees of the three-day expo were among the first people to experience the modern inflight entertainment technology that provides more media content and new functions like direct messaging from the crew and the ‘Little PALs,’ a dedicated option for kids.
The carrier has made it easier for its passengers to book vacations without the usual hassle. Through its Swingaround website (www.swingaround.philippineairlines.com), booking flights and hotel accommodations is facilitated in a single go. Choose from more than 60 local and international destinations, including the latest flight offerings to Kuala Lumpur, Chengdu, Coron, and Puerto Princesa.
The new Mabuhay Miles program gives the loyal passengers of PAL the opportunity to get free flights. They simply need to sign up then Fly, Shop, Dine, Drive, and Unwind to earn more points that can possibly be converted into free flights.
5. Travel extras
Passengers can continue to experience comfort and convenience through PAL’s special travel extras: myPAL Upgrade, myPAL Roam, PAL Travel Insurance, Prepaid Baggage, Choice Seats, and PAL Cargo.
6. Globe Seat Sale
Globe subscribers were entitled to exclusive 15% discount on select PAL flights during the 3-day anniversary event. Similar offers are possible exclusively for them in the future.
7. Free Traveler SIM cards
A joint partnership between PAL Mabuhay Miles and The International Business Group of Globe Telecom gives way to distribution of free Travel SIM cards to passengers on board PAL’s international flights bound to Manila. This program targets travelers, OFWs, and balikbayans who need to own local mobile numbers to get in touch with their loved ones and business partners when they visit the country.
PAL has been giving away Traveler SIMs to passengers of international flights for free since December 2016. Customers can also enjoy unlimited calls to other Globe and TM subscribers for free, on top of 20 all-net SMS and 15 MB of mobile data for a day. Plus, Travel SIM users get 500 bonus Mabuhay Miles points when they register or update their membership information.
8. The Heart of the Nation Inflight Safety Video
PAL has prepared a new inflight safety video (a crowd-sourced material) to make it easier for passengers to know and understand necessary measures whenever they go on board.
PAL has launched its latest campaign called ‘Stories from the Heart.’ It features testimonies of passengers, employees, and benefactors who have experienced the brand of service that is uniquely coming from the ‘Heart of the Filipino.’ These feature stories of hope, convenience, pride, and promise, shared by Philippine Airlines’ passengers.
