As expected, the third PhilBike Expo made a lasting impression after marveling audiences with breath-taking exhibitions from international champion riders. It capped its three-day weekend from November 25 to 27 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The first and so far the only international-standard trade and consumer cycling show in the Philippines brought together three powerhouses, which all rendered breath-taking performances that have left all those who witnessed in awe.
Multiple-World Championship rider Kenny Belaey exhibited his ‘Balance’ atop different obstacles within the indoor venue.
Japanese teen duo The Super Kids (comprising of 14-year-old Yu Shoji and Takumi Isogai) demonstrated their astonishing flatland skills. Their mentor, Viki Gomez who is himself a flatland innovator and three-time flatland world champion joined them. This performance marked Gomez’s second exhibition before the Filipino crowd, who could not get enough of his gravity-defying skills.
Also gracing the star-studded event were Canada’s Geoff Gulevich (one of the world’s best mountain bikers), Alessandro Colnago (current marketing manager of Colnago bikes), as well as several local celebrities who surprised many with their interest and enthusiasm in bike riding.
Aside from the death-defying exhibitions, more than a hundred brands also showcased their broad range of bikes and accessories, which facilitated a timely spree for riders in all skill levels and disciplines. Many bikers were also given the rare opportunity to freestyle and interact with other athletes during an instant BMX Street Jam, the highlight of the expo’s third day.
The PhilBike Expo is annually organized by the Phil-Bike Convention, Inc (PBCI).
