Lazada Philippines sells 400,000 items in 24 hours

Online shopping in the country is, without a doubt, continuously growing rapidly. Another proof to this is Lazada Philippines’ new record on the first day of its annual Online Revolution.

The leading one-top online shopping and selling destination has announced that over 400,000 items were checked out by shoppers on its website and mobile app on November 11 alone, the first day of the traditional online seasonal shopping event of the company. On the first minute of the sale, a total of 241 items were checked out by customers.

The day-long sale figure is close to four times the volume of check out items on November 11, 2015, when Online Revolution sold a then record 120,000 items. The e-commerce giant has set its own tradition of surpassing its figures each year as it reveals further markdowns on its pre-holiday bestsellers.

“Online Revolution is the biggest online shopping event on the Philippines and Southeast Asia,” said Lazada Philippines CEO Inanc Balci. “We created Online Revolution in 2012 to encourage more consumers to experience the benefits of shopping online.”

Balci added that every year, Lazada Philippines is catering to a bigger pool of Filipino online shoppers, with broadening diversity across generations as well as geographical locations. Interestingly, this year, the company has already catered to orders coming from as far as Bongao in Tawi-Tawi. Lazada Philippines is hopeful that this can be another indication of a much more promising online shopping market in the country.

So far during this year’s Online Revolution, Lazada Philippines’ operations team has already been in full swing. Since November 11, volume of items shipped from its warehouse has been 22 times more than the usual shipping volume on an average day.


Faster, more enticing
That’s not all. Lazada Philippines is also committed to further speed up its delivery time. The first delivery on November 11 was received by the customer at exactly 10:29 a.m.—a record-breaking 8 hours from checkout to delivery.

Since the kickoff date, Lazada Philippines customers have been spending an average of seven minutes on the company’s website and 14 minutes on its mobile app.

For the entire four-week run of Online Revolution, there will still be tailored offers to meet specific customers’ interests and requirements. There will also be a weekly curated selection of merchandise for supermoms, beauty conscious consumers, families, fashionistas, and techies. So far, the deals extend to more than 17 product categories.
