Attention, young artists. Here’s the return of a painting competition that you should not miss.
The Directories Philippines Corporation (DPC) and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) have launched the 31st DPC-PLDT Visual Arts Competition (VAC 31) through an event held on November 8, 2016 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Manuel Conde.
Through the years, the competition has been noted for celebrating the rich and creative talent of fine arts students across the country. It opens another huge opportunity to student artists within the age range 18 to 24 and who are currently enrolled in any of accredited tertiary schools with a fine arts program nationwide.
VAC 31 is challenging young artists to have their own creative interpretation of this year’s theme, “Habang May Buhay, May Pag-asa,” in oil or acrylic. Entries are required to depict how Filipinos value life and how they remain cheerful and hopeful despite the adversities.
Every participating fine arts school or department should select a maximum of five official entries to VAC 31. The organizers will not accept direct student entries. All the entries must be delivered to the DPC Main Office in Don Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City any day from February 20, 2017 to March 3, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As a tradition, the top three winning entries will be featured on the covers of the 2017 to 2018 telephone directories of the DPC Yellow Pages and the PLDT White Pages in cities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The grand winner with receive P100,000 as cash prize and a trophy along with a P40,000 donation to his/her school’s fine arts program. Second and third placers will receive P75,000 and P60,000, respectively, plus trophies and corresponding donations to their schools. Meanwhile, all the top 30 finalists will receive P10,000 in cash prize.
The entries will be judged based on visual composition (25%), originality (25%), adherence to the theme (25%), overall impact (15%), and suitability as cover (10%).
